Al-Naji University and Iraqi House of Wisdom sign Memorandum of Understanding to promote research
In a move aimed at enhancing academic and research cooperation, Al-Naji University signed a memorandum of understanding with the Iraqi House of Wisdom, a scientific think tank linked to the Presidency of the Council of Ministers.
The signing of this memorandum is part of a joint cooperation that focuses on monitoring and following up on scientific, political and economic developments and their future effects on Iraq. The studies deal with promoting the exercise of human rights and fundamental freedoms by citizens, consolidating the values of democracy and civil society, as well as providing insights and studies that serve the policy-making and decision-making process.
The House of Wisdom was re-established in 1995 with the aim of reviving the role of the Abbasid House of Wisdom, or as it was then known as the “Treasury of Wisdom”, which was established in Baghdad from 754 AD to 775 AD. The House of Wisdom’s organizational structure consists of eight scientific departments, and each department has an advisory team of ten specialized university professors.
Prof. Dr. Mounir Hamid Al Saadi, President of Al-Naji University, emphasized the importance of this partnership, saying: “The signing of the MoU with Bayt Al-Hikma represents an important step towards enhancing research and scientific cooperation, contributing to the development of knowledge and supporting sustainable development in Iraq.” “We are working to engage creative and innovative youth within the framework of national development plans, in cooperation with the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, competent ministries and international economic organizations.”
This cooperation comes as part of efforts to achieve the global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially SDG 17, which focuses on strengthening partnerships to achieve the goals. Through this partnership, Al-Naji University and Bayt Al-Hikma seek to improve the quality of education and scientific research, and promote cross-cultural understanding and cooperation.
With this step, Al-Naji University continues its endeavors to be a center of academic excellence, entrepreneurial thinking, and sustainable development for the benefit of the academic community and Iraq in general.
