Under the patronage of the esteemed President of Al-Naji University, Prof. Dr. Munir Hameed Al-Saadi, the Faculty of Engineering held a scientific seminar entitled “The impact of climate change and neighboring countries on the scarcity of Euphrates River water” on Wednesday, 12-3-2025. The seminar was moderated by Prof. Dr. Moataz Abdul Sattar Al-Dabbas, where the seminar discussed the main reasons for the decrease in the water level of the Euphrates River, in addition to offering innovative solutions to improve the water environment and reduce the negative effects resulting from climate change.
The seminar focused on the importance of “managing water resources in Iraq” effectively, including enhancing cooperation with neighboring countries to ensure water sustainability, in order to prevent the exacerbation of the drought threatening the region.
The seminar witnessed interaction from the attendees, with many questions and rich discussions on effective water resources assessment mechanisms and how to apply them on the ground.
In conclusion, the participants emphasized the need to strengthen research efforts and regional cooperation to address water challenges, which will contribute to achieving environmental and economic stability for Iraq and neighboring countries.
