Professor Dr. Munir Hameed Al-Saadi, President of Al-Naji University, supervised the first doctoral thesis in the field of materials technology engineering, and the thesis was entitled:
Strength and Ductility Improvement of Refractory High Entropy Alloys
for the student Mohammed Khazaal Hussein, where the thesis was presented on Wednesday 18/6/2025 at the Engineering Technical College – Baghdad, with the membership of a group of professors and the chairmanship of Professor Dr. Juma Salman Jiyad, President of Al-Karkh University of Science, the discussion committee, in the presence of Professor Dr. Wadhah Amer Hatem Al-Tamimi, President of the Middle Technical University, respected. The thesis aimed to design high entropy thermal alloys using mechanical casting and plasma spark sintering techniques, to achieve a balance between hardness and flexibility. It also studied the effect of different compositions and thermal conditions up to 1400°C on mechanical and microscopic properties, with the development of advanced theoretical modeling and numerical simulation.
Professor Dr. Mounir Hameed Al-Saadi, President of Al-Naji University and supervisor of the thesis, praised the student’s research efforts, stressing that this pioneering study contributes to promoting scientific research and developing accurate specializations, in order to meet the needs of the industrial market. He also praised the role of the Middle Technical University and the Engineering Technical College in supporting innovative scientific projects.
After an extensive scientific discussion, the committee recommended accepting the thesis and awarding the student a doctoral degree with a distinction, praising the originality of the research and its promising industrial applications.
This thesis is a qualitative addition in the field of materials engineering, and comes in an advanced context within the framework of academic cooperation between Al-Naji University and the Middle Technical University and other educational and research institutions in Iraq.
