To promote sustainability: Al-Naji University implements thermal insulation in campus buildings

In a major step towards sustainability, Al-Naji University in Baghdad has successfully implemented thermal insulation in five of its campus buildings, each consisting of five floors. This initiative is part of the university’s ongoing efforts to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, especially those related to clean and affordable energy, sustainable cities and communities, and climate action.

The thermal insulation project aims to enhance energy efficiency by reducing the need for heating and cooling, thereby lowering the university’s carbon footprint. By incorporating advanced insulation materials, the university ensures that buildings maintain optimal internal temperatures, contributing to a more comfortable and productive environment for students and staff.

Prof. Dr. Munir Al-Saadi, President of the University, emphasized the importance of this project, saying: “Thermal insulation is a key element of our strategy to create a sustainable campus. It not only reduces our energy consumption, but also aligns with our commitment to environmental conservation and the global sustainability agenda.”

The project is expected to achieve significant energy savings and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, supporting Iraq’s national sustainable development goals. In addition, it serves as a model for other institutions in the region, demonstrating the feasibility and benefits of incorporating sustainable practices into building design and maintenance.

Al-Naji University’s dedication to sustainability extends beyond this project. The university is actively involved in various initiatives aimed at promoting renewable energy, waste reduction, and sustainable resource management. These efforts emphasize the university’s role as a leader in sustainability and its commitment to fostering a greener future for all.
